Belize Ends 2025 Strong: Q4 GDP Up 4.7%

Belize’s economy wrapped up 2025 on a high, with fresh data from the Statistical Institute of Belize showing the country gaining real momentum in the final quarter. Between October and December, GDP jumped four-point-seven percent, pushing overall output to just over one-point-three billion dollars. That boost came largely from strong performances in the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors, which all posted double‑digit growth. Construction, finance, and insurance also saw steady gains, altogether signaling that Belize’s economic engine is still running strong. Statistician Christopher Hulse breaks down the numbers.

“Goods and services produced in the fourth quarter of 2025, total $1.396 billion. This is an increase of $63.31 million or four-point-seven percent when we compare it to the fourth quarter of 2024. Looking at that $1.396 billion, the primary sector contributed $180.3 million, secondary $169.2 million, and tertiary $871.9 million with taxes at $174.8 million. Looking at that growth rate of 4.7%, we can look at the industries that were the biggest drivers for that growth rate, and we can observe that we had agriculture, forestry, and fishing who will sail and retail, trade, transportation, and financial and insurance activities as the biggest drivers for the growth. One of the main drivers for this increase. Was the 19.8% increase in banana from 19,000 metric tons in quarter four  of 2024 to 22,800 metric tons in quarter four of 2025. Another driver for growth was within the marine exports. As we observe an eight percent increase as we saw shrimp go up by 6.6% and all other fishing products up by 8.3%, mainly due to lobster tail and lobster meat, increasing for the quarter. Within the financial and insurance activities. For this quarter, we saw a significant increase in insurance activities of 59% from $11 million in quarter four of 2024 to $17.4 million in quarter four of 2025.”

With bananas up sharply, marine exports improving, and insurance activity surging, the fourth quarter shows Belize’s growth broadening across the board.
