Belize Kicks Off Greenhouse Gas Inventory Cycle
The National Climate Change Office (NCCO), under the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Solid Waste Management, has kicked off Belize’s National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory Cycle.
Officials said the meeting was not about measuring air pollution directly but about strengthening the country’s National GHG Inventory Cycle.
The kick‑off session aimed to define the National GHG Inventory Cycle and align sectoral workplans with the office’s overall strategy. Participants also reviewed the Technical Expert Review process for the Biennial Transparency Report to ensure Belize’s inventory meets international transparency standards.
In addition, participants discussed ongoing capacity‑building opportunities under the National Communication framework and the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute.
The meeting further outlined the need for the inventory process to follow the “Modalities, Procedures, and Guidelines of the Paris Agreement”, including submission of the National Inventory Document and Common Reporting Tables.
