Belize Loses Beloved Paediatrician Dr. Cecelio Eck

Paediatrician Dr Cecelio Eck has passed away following a long and public battle with stage four cancer. He’s left behind nearly three decades of dedicated service to the country’s children.

Dr Eck first revealed his diagnosis in 2024. He underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy and briefly returned to look after his “little patients” before sharing that the cancer had returned despite surgery and treatment.

Through it all, he remained open about his journey and spoke candidly about the experience and challenges the diagnosis brings.

He is remembered as a doctor who gave generously to his practice.
