Belize Participates in COSEFIN Finance Ministers Meeting
Belize strengthened regional ties at the 56th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Finance of Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic (COSEFIN), held late last month in Antigua, Guatemala.
The delegation was led by Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Christopher Coye. During the meeting, Belize held bilateral talks with Guatemala’s Minister of Public Finance, Jonathan Menkos, to focus on cooperation in trade, energy, tourism, and security.
Belize was formally approved as a COSEFIN member during the 55th Regular Meeting in December 2024 and first participated in a virtual session in January 2025.
COSEFIN is a sectoral body of the Central American Integration System (SICA), created in 2006 to coordinate fiscal policies and promote economic integration across the region. It supports joint efforts in taxation, trade liberalisation, and regional development.
