Tonight, Belize is taking a major step toward modernizing the way it protects people seeking refuge. The Government of Belize, UNHCR, and the Embassy of Japan have teamed up on a new initiative that brings cutting‑edge digital tools to the country’s asylum system. Backed by more than six hundred thousand U.S. dollars from the Government of Japan, the project aims to transform how asylum cases are registered, tracked, and processed, making the system faster, more secure, and better prepared for rising global migration pressures.
