Belizean Centenarian: Clara Cum-Cho Celebrates 100 Years of Strength

Belizean Clara Cum-Cho is about to reach her 100th birthday on August 12, a milestone that celebrates a life rich in hard work, faith, and family.

Clara’s century-long journey has seen Belize’s most significant changes, from colonial times to independence and the rise of modern life.

Her family calls her “living proof that a well-lived life is not measured only in years, but in the memories made, the love shared, and the laughter spread along the way.”

After marrying at the age of 16, she became the mother of 10 children. Like many families in Belize, she raised them by living off the land, growing crops, raising animals, and mastering traditional crafts such as sewing embroidered Maya blouses and weaving baskets.

“Though time has slowed her movements, her spirit remains strong,” her family stated. Clara is now living in San Pedro, Corozal, and continues to inspire those around her, including her great-great-grandchildren.
