Belizean Cyclists Head to Barbados for Junior Championships

A delegation of Belizean cyclists is headed to Barbados to compete in the 2025 Caribbean Road Junior Championships. The event is being organized by the Barbados Cycling Union and regulated by the International Cycling Union. So, it’s a huge opportunity for these young talents to gain exposure and secure wonderful prizes. The Cycling Federation of Belize is sending a delegation of three male and three female cyclists recognized as top emerging talents in the country. They will be competing in both the youth and junior divisions. We spoke with the federation’s Secretary General, Leticia Westby about Belize’s participation in the event.

“This is basically one of the few events that the cyclist at this age or level, youth and juniors, fifteen and sixteen, seventeen and eighteen, that they go to represent regionally. The Caribbean Cycling Union is one of the member organizations we are affiliated with. We come together and participate in these races. This year it is going to be in Bridgetown Barbados where we will have cyclist from the region, the Caribbean region only that will participate. The youths are basically participating in the individual time trial and the road race. Saturday is the induvial time trial and Sunday is the road race.”
