Belizean Innovator Launches National Bus Schedule Website

Planning a cross-country trip in Belize by bus has often meant relying on word of mouth, outdated paper schedules, or long waits at the terminal. But one Belizean has decided to change that. Constantine James Enriquez has created what may be the country’s very first online national bus schedule platform. The website, called Belize Bus Schedule, compiles bus times, routes, and destinations in one easy-to-use space. Though still in its early stages, the platform is already gaining attention from both locals and travelers looking for a more reliable way to navigate the country.

“Essentially the project started from a decision that I had made to try to rebuild what I thought was ministry of transport website so I was trying to look for information about the bus schedules and I went to Google, I searched for it and I came across this website that I thought belonged to the  ministry of transport and it was kind of half finished so in my mind I thought maybe I should try rebuilding this website”

“Again, very good idea, see my thing is Belize has a lot of what I call disjointed data where there’s no one place to look for everything like a specific field for example like bus schedules, if you don’t know someone that works in these specific companies because we don’t really have a way to reach out to them and ask about the bus runs so having one place where you can look for all this stuff becomes an invaluable resource”
