“It was not an Emmy. I don’t think the other producer and I thought this would happen to us. I think we just thought this was a very tragic situation and we want people to be informed of what is happening and we want to make sure to be there with them and just to make sure that in the studio on the back end of it, we know what was going on, but like if there was any developments that we over heard on the scanners or got any press release that our live crew on the field or those in the studio were being communicated to. I had my producer headphones on and had about eight people in my ear all at once that morning while we were taking it live. It was our two live reporters, two photojournalists, our meteorologists, and coordinating them all at once. My mom worked a lot in journalism. She has a degree in that and she was an anchor for Channel Five and Seven and I wont ever forget the nights when she was reading news I would be on the side watching her reading the news and I had a very intimate interaction with that and seeing her on that path and that was my first spark to my interest in journalism. But I have always been a writer for as long as I can remember. I have always had a pen and a book with me writing.”
