Belizean Soldier Charged with Sexual Assault

Police have arrested and charged a 28-year-old Belizean soldier for the crime of sexual assault following an incident in the Orange Walk District.

According to authorities, the report was made on Tuesday. A 20-year-old waitress told police that while working at an establishment earlier that evening, four men entered, ate, and consumed beers. She alleged that while clearing their table around 5:00 p.m., one of the men touched her inappropriately.

The accused was identified as Emil Fernando. He was detained by police, taken to the station, and subsequently formally arrested and charged.
