Belizean Student Shines at Multi-Sports Tournament in Mexico

Belizean student Abigail Quiroz made her country proud this past weekend at the Verano Xul-Ha 2025 Multi-Sports Tournament in Othón P. Blanco, Mexico.

The tournament brought together ten teams and over 300 competitors for three days of intense sports competition.

Quiroz, who is currently studying criminology, criminalistics, and forensic science in Mexico, was invited to join Team Bakab Balam. Demonstrating discipline, determination, and teamwork, she helped her team achieve impressive results across multiple events:

1st Place – Volleyball

1st Place – Kayak

3rd Place – Tug of War

2nd Place – Knowledge Competition

Team Bakab Balam finished the tournament with an overall 2nd place standing. Quiroz was the only Belizean participant in the entire event.
