Belizean Teen Makes History in Italian GT Endurance Championship

A Belizean teenager has taken his place among international motorsports competitors.

Eighteen-year-old Alex Robert Bowen competed in the 2026 Italian GT Endurance Championship Season Finale at the Mugello Circuit in Tuscany from October 30 to November 1.

Bowen drove a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 for Vincenzo Sospiri Racing (VSR) for the race.

The Belize Tourism Board described his participation as an opportunity to bring international attention to Belize and represent the country through sport.

Bowen’s interest in racing began in childhood, when he would turn his driveway into an imaginary racetrack and race whatever he could find. His parents enrolled him in a karting class, which set him on the path towards competitive motorsports.

Although he is a first-generation American, Bowen proudly embraces his Belizean heritage and carries the country’s flag into international competition.

According to his biography, Bowen is the first person in Belizean history to compete in motorsports.
