Belizean Volleyball Star Ernest Broaster Goes Pro in Brazil
A key player on the Belize Men’s National Volleyball Team has signed a one-year contract with Brazil’s Goiás Sports Club. The player officially beginning his professional career is Ernest Broaster.
Broaster is already in Brazil, training and preparing for the championships starting October 24.
“I am so grateful for it, because since I started playing volleyball, I said I wanted to be a professional player. So, I am making as much of it as I can, because the championships begin in October, on October 24. So, that month and a half to prepare myself for that,” Broaster said to News 5.
Broaster added that his height means he has to work even harder than some of his taller teammates, who are six-four and above. He said he spends extra hours in the gym and puts in additional practice reps, training consistently with little rest to keep up with the team.
Broaster is proving that Belizean athletes can succeed on the international stage.
“I have a lot on my shoulders. I have a lot to prove. So, I am putting in that work every day,” he added.
