Belizeans React to Budna Abduction Video: Opinions Split

With all the buzz surrounding Budna, we hit the streets of downtown Albert Street today to hear what Belizeans had to say about the video of his abduction. Opinions were split, some believe there’s too much hype around Budna, others insist his abduction was wrong, while a few say he got exactly what he deserved. Here’s what they had to say.

“If they damage to him. He has family, right? How you will feel if, for example, your father or your uncle or your brother is in that situation? I only ask, to the authorities or to who do that, how you will feel if one of your parents, your son, your brother, or any family, is in that situation. How you will feel? How will you react? Right? It’s only that question that I do. And the Bible say whatever you do to others, it will come to you. You say you do with others, or you want that they do to you.”

“So far, me nuh meet that dude deh, bro, but I tell you no lie, man. It’s not healthy for people like those in society. And now he’s coming in and trying to perform like he’s doing something as a service to Belize, and he doesn’t have the qualification. So he bizniz where he’s at.”

“The process they went through was not right. I guess it doesn’t matter if you’re a convict, it doesn’t matter if you’re a fugitive. If you have done a crime in another country and you return back to your host country, there are protocols that can be arranged to have you either taken back to the country, right, but not in that manner that it was done. All right. There’s an extrajudicial law. There’s Interpol, there’s the ambassadorial level, there’s a consulate section level. There are many, many, many avenues open that you can utilize to deal with an issue like that. No, I’m not taking part for Budna, because Budna apparently already is an alleged, I don’t think it’s alleged anymore because it has, he has been proven to be guilty in Guatemala. We are a democratic system. We have laws in place. We have provisions that regards every human identity as somebody important. That is the entire story behind it. I think it was wrong the way it has been done. Now, who were against, I mean, who were backing it up or who are behind it? I don’t know. We leave that for the legal system. But I know we have a legal system, we have a judicial system that is so far so good in comparison to other countries. So, we just hope that justice reigns and let, listen to me very carefully, let the cap fits whom it belongs to.”
