Belize’s Firefighters Get Major Equipment Upgrade

Belize’s firefighters just got a powerful new boost. On Wednesday, U.S. Southern Command donated nearly three million dollars in firefighting equipment, gear that will help firefighters move faster and stay safer on the job. The package includes handheld radios, oxygen tanks, Hurst rescue tools, cutting saws, portable pumps, and full protective gear, critical tools for first responders who face life‑threatening emergencies daily. U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Katharine Beamer said the donation reflects the strong partnership between the United States and Belize, as well as a shared commitment to protecting communities. Minister Henry Charles Usher welcomed the support, calling it a vital investment in national safety and in the men and women who put their lives on the line. With Belize marking forty-five years of independence and the U.S. celebrating two hundred and fifty, the timing underscores a growing friendship, and a shared mission. For firefighters, the impact is immediate, they now have better tools, safer conditions, and stronger response capacity. For Belizeans, it means communities that are better protected than ever.
