Body Found Identified as Belize City Fisherman
Police have identified the body that was found earlier today in Belize City. The grim discovery was made in an area behind the Port of Belize City.
Officers observed the motionless body of a male person with apparent gunshot injuries.
The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Jaheil Westby, a Belizean fisherman of a Belize City address.
Initial investigations indicate that Westby’s mother reported him missing earlier that morning, around 6:45 a.m., stating that he had not returned home the previous night. She told police he was last seen on Thursday, around 3:00 p.m., when he left home with a 16-year-old male friend to go fishing.
Police later launched a search in the area where the pair reportedly fished and subsequently discovered Westby’s body.
