Boston Resident Confirms Loggers Stayed on His Property
And for a unique, but interesting perspective on the matter, we spoke with Boston resident Demascio Vellos. The loggers were staying on one of his properties while they were doing their work. Vellos, a former councilor, says they showed him a concession, but he did not look at it close enough to know their boundaries. He says that while they paid for their stay, he is angered by the destruction they caused.

Demascio Vellos, Resident, Boston Village
“I was just giving them somewhere to stay because apparently, they were legal. Well I am a five-time elected village councilor. I have been vice chairman twice. I have a lot of interest in my home, but once you have a concession there is nothing I can do about that.”
Paul Lopez
“Did they show you a license?”
Demascio Vellos
“They should me, but I did not look at it to see Lucky Strike. So, there isn’t nothing I could do about that, they were paying me a little bit of rent to stay in my place. If I give them somewhere to stay or if I didn’t, they would still be out here.”
Paul Lopez
“Now that you realize what they were doing, what do you think?”
Demascio Vellos
“Unfortunately, I am not too happy with it. It is our village. A few years back I went to get a concession under the village council’s name to build a center, because we don’t even have a center in Boston, or running water and the area rep did not want to sign that paper. I don’t see why someone else should come from another place and get this privilege. It is a damn shame. Somebody got to step on somebody because it seems like the crime start from above and forestry have a lot to do with it.”
