British Tourist Charged in Dubai for Allegedly Filming Missile Strikes

A 60-year-old British man has been charged under cybercrime laws in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for allegedly filming Iranian missile activity over the city, UK authorities have confirmed.

The UK Foreign Office said it is in contact with local officials following the man’s detention. Under UAE law, publishing or sharing material that could disturb public security carries a minimum sentence of two years in prison and a fine of 200,000 dirhams (about US$54,000).

UAE officials have recently warned residents and visitors not to film or share images of missile strikes, interception sites, or critical infrastructure, saying such actions could compromise national security.

The UK Embassy in the United Arab Emirates also reminded British nationals that they are subject to local laws and that violations may result in fines, imprisonment, or deportation.
