Broad Daylight Shooting Near School Targets Accused Gunman

Gunshots shattered the calm on Coney Drive just before eleven o’clock this morning, right near Buttonwood Bay Nazarene Primary School, causing panic in the neighborhood. The target was Jahreem Staine, a name that’s no stranger to police. He had just walked out of the Magistrate’s Court when someone opened fire, twenty-eight shell casings were found at the scene. It’s daring and reckless, especially in broad daylight and so close to a school. Now, Staine’s name has been in the headlines before. Back in June, he and Eric Frazer were charged with attempted murder, accused of opening fire on Jimmy Rojas, a man once charged with murder himself, but later cleared. That shooting happened on May third, while Rojas was working near Tibruce Street and Croton Lane. A gunman reportedly stepped out of a tinted Mercedes and started shooting. Rojas survived and is still recovering. As for Staine and Frazer, they’re facing serious charges, attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and more. And now, with this morning’s shooting, the danger surrounding these names is only growing.
