BTL Opens Signature Plus Store, Redefining Connectivity in Belize

Belize Telemedia Limited officially opened the doors to its brand-new Signature Plus Store today, and it’s not just any store. Located right at BTL’s corporate headquarters on St. Thomas Street, this space is being described as a significant move toward the future of the company. Why? Because it’s a symbol of BTL’s commitment to innovation. Inside, you’ll find the latest in connectivity technology and cutting-edge products. But that’s not all, the store is designed to be a hub for learning, engagement, and creativity. We spoke with BTL’s Chairman Mark Lizarraga, and Prime Minister John Briceño, who both shared why this launch is such a big deal for the future of tech in Belize.

“It is with great pride and a deep sense of purpose that I stand before you today to reflect on this remarkable transformation that BTL has undertaken, but to celebrate a milestone that symbolizes a vision for our future, the opening of this Digi Signature Plus Store. Over past five years, BTL has embraced a bold and ambitious strategy to redefine telecommunication in Belize. We recognize that at the outset, to truly serve our stakeholders, we needed to evolve. We needed to improve efficiency not just incrementally but fundamentally. Since 2021 we have prioritized and invested substantially in expanding and modernizing our workspaces for our staff and customers. We modernize our work fleet, we invested in improving our network reliability, capacity and speed.”

“I think it gives you a sense of pride. BTL has a bit of a storied history over the past, probably ten, fifteen years, and we don’t have to go through all the recitals, and we were very concerned about how it is being managed after that. But it is an asset that we the government and people own so we had to do our best to make sure we can right the ship. I think we have had a good set of directors at the board level. And once you provide your staff with the proper leadership, vision and respect, I think great things can happen. BTL is a great example of that. When we got into government we were not trying to fire anybody. We worked with what was there and made certain adjustments. Now look at the results, in 2019 BTL earned about a million dollars and look at where we are today. So, I am very proud of the work the board has done and the employees of BTL, because they are the driving force.”
