Budna Abduction Videos to Be Released Following Investigation
And what about those calls to release the surveillance footage in the Budna investigation? Well, Prime Minister Briceño says that won’t happen, at least not yet. He insists the footage will only be made public once the investigation wraps up. But here’s another big question: will ComPol Richard Rosado return to his post after his forty-five-day suspension? According to the PM, the top cop actually stepped aside to avoid any hint of interference in the probe. Here’s how the Prime Minister explained it.

Prime Minister John Briceño
Prime Minister John Briceño
“I know the minister of police and what he said. But, I am saying that once we are finished with the investigation we could release everything. We have nothing to hide. But, allow the investigation to finish. When the investigation is over and you guys want the footage we will be happy to give it to you, but let the investigation finish.”

“Doctor Rosado is the first commissioner to be put on administration leave. Is there a possibility he can come back after being publicly shamed?”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“I don’t think he was publicly shamed. I think what he wants was to remove himself from this whole thing so that he is not accused of tampering with the whole thing. It is almost like damned if you do, damned if you don’t. He decided to do the honorable thing and go on administrative leave so that we can proceed with this investigation. It has nothing to shame commissioner Rosado.”
Reporter
“Have you received any report that a Cabinet Minister participated in the commission of Budna’s abduction and have you asked that in Cabinet?”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“No, I have not received that report and I have not asked that in Cabinet. Basically all that was said is that there is going to be an investigation.”
Reporter
“It has been frown upon that this matter has not been discussed in Cabinet.”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“What are we going to discuss? We need to get the report before we discuss. What are we going to talk about, conjecture, gossip? We want to wait for the report to have a discussion.”
Reporter
“Why is the report going to Cabinet instead of the DPP office?”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“It is not going to Cabinet. It is going to me, as the Prime Minister I am responsible, so it comes to me and once it comes to me I will probably inform my Cabinet of what was found there and I will make that decision, not the Cabinet.”
Reporter
“Do you accept any at all that police might have been involved in this abduction?”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“Well I can’t accept anything until I get the report and evidence.”
