Buried Without Answers, What Happened to Jericho Humes?
Two weeks after burying Jericho Humes, his family is still waiting for the truth about how he died and where his body was found.
The Dangriga father of three disappeared on April 1st, 2026. Humes’s sister, Arsenia Humes, told News 5 today that DNA results confirmed that a decomposed body recovered by police was his.
She said the family finally received his remains and held a burial roughly two weeks ago. But closure has not come with it. “His death comes off weird,” Arsenia said. “I requested an autopsy but was told that it cannot be done.”
According to her, his body was released to the family without the police disclosing the cause of death, the location where the body was found, or the conditions under which it was discovered.
Arsenia described her brother as someone known in his community. “He was someone that drank a lot but was also calm. So, I don’t know why no investigation happened.”
She added that the lack of investigation is troubling, stating, “He was someone that drank a lot, yes, but was also calm. So, I don’t know why no investigation happened…”
“I think police should have investigated. It shouldn’t be left like this, because just like what happened to him, there may be others similar as well,” Arsenia added.
Humes’ home was found ransacked after his disappearance, with broken windows, a forced door, and a partially burnt cap.
Another of Humes’ family members reported receiving ransom calls from a Mexican number demanding $10,000 for his release just a week after his disappearance. According to her, she received a photo showing a knife pressed to his neck and audio recordings, which she handed over to police.
The family says they are still not satisfied and are demanding answers.
