Businessman Accused of Drunk Driving in Fatal Crash

Police have filed charges against a well-known businessman after a deadly crash on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Sixty-five-year-old Dalton Stamp lost his life Friday night when he was hit by a Ford F-150 driven by Mark Usher. Investigators say Usher was under the influence of alcohol, and what’s worse, he didn’t stop to help. Tonight, we take a closer look at what happened and what charges Usher now faces.

“Precinct Four police have formally arrested and charged Mark Usher a Belizean businessman for the offenses of drove motor vehicle with blood alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit, failing to render aid, drove motor vehicle without due care and attention and failure to report an accident. He has also been charged for Manslaughter by Negligence and Causing Death by Careless Conduct. These charges follow police investigation into a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of Dalton Stamp, a sixty-five-year-old Belize technician. This accident occurred Friday twenty-eight at approximately eleven p.m. near mile four and a half on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Initial investigation suggest that Mr. Stamp was on the highway and seeking to cross it when a Ford F-150 that was travelling from the direction of Belize City to Ladyville collided into Mr. Stamp.”
