Captain Soberanis Named Acting Coast Guard Commandant

The Ministry of National Defense and Border Security has announced its pick for acting commandant of the Belize Coast Guard. On Tuesday, we announced that Rear Admiral Elton Bennett, former Commandant of the Belize Coast Guard, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Enterprise. In the interim, Captain Gregory Soberanis, currently Vice Commandant of the Belize Coast Guard, will assume the role of Acting Commandant until a formal appointment is confirmed by Prime Minister John Briceño.
