Caribbean Conference Condemns US Attack
Political leaders, jurists, and civil society groups from across the Caribbean and Latin America have condemned “the attacks recently perpetrated against Venezuela by the United States.”
The response came out of the 1st Regional Conference: The Voices of the Caribbean in Defence of Venezuela and International Law, which brought together more than 180 participants from over 20 countries, including Belize, Jamaica, Cuba, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.
The conference focused on defending Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace and resisting external actions viewed as a threat to regional sovereignty.
Participants accused the administration of former US president Donald Trump of responsibility for a January 3, 2026 bombing in Venezuela. The statement said the attack resulted in more than 100 deaths and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.
“The Caribbean stands together against external threats and for lasting peace,” participants said in a joint statement.
Delegates agreed to form a regional solidarity network and pursue legal and diplomatic strategies to influence foreign policy across Caribbean states.
According to the joint statement, the conference marks the start of coordinated legal action, public advocacy and international engagement to protect regional unity and peace.
