Case Against Mother, Filed by Chester Williams, Thrown Out in Court

A mother of five who was charged after former Commissioner of Police Chester Williams filed a report against her under the Cyber Crime Act has now had her case struck out for want of prosecution.

Williams had alleged that she made a false post about him online.

Today, Nichole McDonald says the ordeal has left her “with nothing” after attending court 17 times without the complainant ever once appearing. “I lost everything, including my savings,” she told News Five.

She recalled being detained for five days, during which she says she was denied medication, food, and water. “Five days is an injustice to me now,” she added.

According to McDonald, she was targeted for a comment she made on Shyne Barrow’s Facebook post about the killing of a youth she once cared. “A lot of people were commenting, and I was the only one that got singled out, the only female in Belize,” she argued.

Her career in public service spanned 16 years, beginning as a school warden in 2008. She says she took the role seriously after witnessing violence in her community. “I speak the truth,” she said, arguing that her constitutional rights were violated when she was dismissed without payout.

Now with the case struck out, McDonald says she is seeking justice for herself and her family. “Sixteen years of service gone just like that,” she said. “My constitutional rights have been violated in all aspects. Somebody must stand for these kids.”

News Five reached out to Chester Williams for comment. He said he has no sympathy for people who use social media to bully others and that her case should serve as an example.
