Caye Caulker Kicks Off Cannabis Referendum Campaign
The countdown is on in Caye Caulker as the official campaign for the cannabis legalization referendum kicks off. Volunteers are hitting the streets, going door-to-door, and talking directly with residents about what this historic vote really means. Mark your calendars, October eighth is decision day. The question is whether Belize should move forward with a regulated, taxable cannabis industry, one that promises jobs and revenue for the island. Leading the charge is village councilor Ilya Rosado. He says this campaign is all about education, transparency, and empowerment. In his words, ‘We want people to make their decision based on facts, not fear.’ Expect street activities, public forums, and plenty of chances to ask questions before voting day. But it’s not a one-sided conversation. The religious community has launched its own counter-campaign, urging residents to vote ‘No’ on cannabis legalization. So, the debate is heating up in Caye Caulker and all eyes are on October eighth.
