Cayo Sweeps Farmer of the Year Awards
Three Cayo District farmers have been named the top farmers in the country, sweeping all three categories of the Farmer of the Year 2026 Competition.
The announcement was made by the National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) Committee on Thursday.
Saulo Mesh took the Male Farmer of the Year title, Yoalma Pocasangre was named Female Farmer of the Year, and Jeshua Tzib claimed the Junior Farmer of the Year award.
The awards are presented annually by the NATS Committee under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries, recognising farmers for dedication, innovation, and contribution to the agricultural sector.
The announcement comes three weeks ahead of the National Agriculture and Trade Show 2026, which runs April 30 to May 3 at the NATS Grounds in Belmopan. This year’s show carries the theme “Advancing Smart Agriculture: Building a Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Belizean Food System.”
