Christopher Noble Gets Expanded Crime-Fighting Role
Tonight, the Belize Police Department is rolling out a new crime-fighting unit, just two weeks after Julius Espat took over as Minister of Home Affairs. It is called the Violence Prevention and Enforcement Team, and it brings together officers from the Special Patrol Unit in the Eastern Division and San Pedro. The team will be led by ASP Rodney Jones, who will report to Senior Superintendent Christopher Noble. Noble has now been given a much wider role. He will oversee three key units: the Leadership Intervention Unit, the Gang Intelligence, Investigation and Interdiction Unit, and this new Violence Prevention and Enforcement Team. In a message to department heads, Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado said the new unit will focus on high-risk offenders through targeted monitoring, preventative patrols, community engagement, and focused enforcement operations. The department says placing these units under Noble’s command should improve coordination, strengthen intelligence-sharing, and sharpen the police response to violent crime.
