The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed that all charges be withdrawn against 21-year-old Christy Guzman, who was accused of manslaughter in the shooting death of Wilson Hernandez.

According to official court documents, Deputy DPP Javier Chan instructed on November 10th that the charge be discontinued after new evidence surfaced, shedding light on the events that led to Hernandez’s death.

Evidence shows Hernandez was choking his partner, Dalia Vellos, when her sister, holding a licensed firearm, shot at his arm. The bullet went through his arm and into his torso, killing him.

The incident occurred off camera, and the DPP’s Office reportedly had no evidence to rebut that account, leading to the decision to withdraw the charge.

Guzman was initially denied bail when first arraigned in September but was later granted $9,000 bail by the High Court in early October under strict conditions, including twice-weekly reporting to the Belmopan Police Station and surrendering her travel documents.

Guzman faced manslaughter charges for the August 31 shooting of Hernandez during a domestic dispute with his partner, Dalia Vellos. Surveillance footage shows Vellos and Guzman handling the licensed firearm before the shot was fired.
