ComPol on Benigno Loria’s Arrest in Houston
Police Commissioner Dr. Richard Rosado addressed the arrest of Belizean national Benigno Loria in Houston, Texas, who U.S. authorities link to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
Speaking to News 5, Dr. Rosado confirmed that Loria had been a person of interest for the Belize Police Department during his time in the country. “All I can say for now is that during his time in Belize, he was a person of interest for the Belize Police Department,” Dr. Rosado said.
He explained that police were attempting to build cases against Loria due to his involvement in questionable activities but would not confirm any links to cartel operations.
When asked about the possibility of bringing Loria back to Belize to face charges, Dr. Rosado stated, “I would have to check with my investigators to see if we have anything to charge him. But as far as I know, he was a person of interest in Belize.”
The Commissioner said that investigations are ongoing, and that authorities are working to monitor individuals suspected of connections to organised crime.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said, “Loria was arrested based on his 2024 final removal order, open arrest warrant and gang affiliation. He’ll remain in custody pending deportation.”
