“We got a call about a month ago about a Jaguar killing a dog in Hope Creek, in Stann Creek. We deployed or capture cage but it was unsuccessful. So, after about three weeks we moved the cage out. We got a call yesterday, the zoo actually received the call and they asked us if they could deploy the cage and they said yes go ahead. They deployed the cage and we captured the Jaguar. So now, we have successfully caught this Jaguar. It is safe. It was not hurt. It has been taken to the zoo where we will do a full analysis, a health analysis. This is going to be done by the Forest Department, the Belize Zoo and the Corozal Sustainable Future Initiative. We will decide if we should release the Jaguar if it is releasable then we will put a satellite collar on the animal and release it.”
