Coordinated Police Operations Snare Crack Traffickers

Police say a series of coordinated operations across the country has resulted in multiple arrests tied to the trafficking of crack cocaine. As law enforcement continues its push against the illicit drug trade, six individuals from different districts have now been formally charged in connection with the seizures. Police provided details on the arrests and the quantities of drugs recovered.

“Police have formally arrested and charged six persons who are believed to be peddlers of crack cocaine for the offense of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply, more commonly known as drug trafficking, as a consequence of several operations conducted country wide over the past week. Eddy Hernandez was charged for possession of controlled drugs with intent to supplying relation to four point six grams of cocaine, Joshua Burns of Cotton Tree Village in relation to two point eight grams, Stephan Hyde and Giany Wade of San Pedro for two point eight grams of cocaine, Gliriam Mejia for two counts in relation to one point two five grams of crack cocaine and five point five grams of crack cocaine, as well as Burton Godoy of Belize City who was also charged for two counts in relation to twenty-eight grams of cocaine and ninety point nine grams of crack cocaine.”

 

Police say the charges are the result of sustained countrywide efforts and investigations aimed at disrupting the illegal drug trade and bringing traffickers before the courts.
