Cop Injured in Highway Hit-and-Run
A police officer is recovering in the hospital tonight after a hit-and-run on the George Price Highway. Thirty-one-year-old Police Constable Javier Waight, who’s attached to Special Branch in Belmopan, was riding his motorcycle when he was struck by a vehicle that didn’t stop to help. Despite being thrown into a ditch, Waight managed to call for backup and guide fellow officers to his location. He was quickly rushed to the Western Regional Hospital and is now listed in stable condition. Police are working to track down the driver and are reviewing surveillance footage from along the highway to help with the investigation.

“On Friday the fifteenth of August police responded to an accident on the George Price Highway near the Orange Gallery there they met Javier Waight Police Constable with injuries and a damaged motorcycle he reported that he was driving his motorcycle and he was struck by a vehicle which did not stop he was taken for treatment and is currently on a stable condition we are seeking the vehicle in regards to this road traffic accident he is now in stable condition”
