Corozal Free Zone to Open to Belizeans on December 23

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Enterprise has announced that the Corozal Free Zone will be opened to Belizeans on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, allowing residents to enter the zone for shopping. According to the ministry, access will be limited to the purchase of general retail goods, with restrictions placed on certain items. Alcoholic beverages, spirits, and cigarettes will not be permitted for purchase under this arrangement.

The ministry further stated that all items bought within the Free Zone will be subject to the applicable import duties and taxes upon re-entry into the Belize Customs territory. Authorities say the measure is intended to provide Belizeans with limited access while ensuring compliance with national customs regulations.
