Court Throws Out Charges Against Senator Patrick Faber
Senator Patrick Faber is now cleared of all criminal charges, after a Belize City magistrate dismissed two counts against him this week, obstruction of a police officer and aggravated assault. The charges stemmed from a late-night encounter on Bay Street last year, when police stopped Faber’s vehicle after running a checkpoint near BelChina Bridge. Officers claimed he got too close while recording one of them, despite being warned to step back. But when the matter came up in court on Tuesday, May fifth, the case was thrown out. Authorities have not said why. Faber was represented by attorney Orson “OJ” Elrington.
