Daly Cannot Give Constituents Answers on BTL Deal

The proposed BTL-Speednet deal is no longer just a corporate transaction. It has become a national conversation, and residents in Collet want to know how it could affect them. But when they turn to their area representative for answers, Devin Daly says he cannot offer much insight. Daly, who serves as a junior minister of state, says he was not part of the Cabinet discussions on the proposed acquisition and does not have an inside view of the deal. So, while public scrutiny grows and constituents look for clarity, Daly says the country needs more information before anyone can make a firm judgment.

“You’ve been speaking with your residents in Collet. What’s your position on the BTL Speednet acquisition?”

 

Devin Daly, Area Representative, Collet

“There’s been a lot of conversations about this. And I believe persons from my constituency, they want to be better informed about it, as they should. These are national decisions. I don’t sit in cabinet, so I don’t have a vote. I have no representation on the board when it comes to BTL for this acquisition or anything like that. As far as I know, there hasn’t been anything set in stone. There was a vote at the BTL level, and that is all I know. I haven’t been to cabinet. Us ministers of state, we rotate in terms of going and entering into cabinet and I was not the minister of state in there at that time.”
