Death of British Man Under Investigation

Authorities have launched an investigation into the death of a British national who was found unconscious near a hotel in Caye Caulker on Tuesday.

Police say 52-year-old Eric Leonard Storey was found motionless on the ground near the Casa Vista Hotel on the island’s north side. He had reportedly checked into the hotel just one day earlier.

According to preliminary reports, several people in the area heard a thud, upon checking, discovered him on the ground. He was rushed to the Caye Caulker Health Clinic, where doctors tried to save his life, but he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.

Investigators have not yet confirmed how Storey sustained those injuries or how long he had been in Belize. “No information has been ascertained in relation to that. It’s an ongoing investigation,” said ASP Stacy Smith.
