Destiny Wagner Resigns from Miss Universe Belize

Destiny Wagner says walking away does not always mean giving up. Sometimes, she says, it means refusing to compromise what you stand for. That is how Wagner is framing her resignation as National Director of Miss Universe Belize. After what she describes as careful consideration, Wagner says concerns over leadership, communication and accountability convinced her that the organization no longer aligned with her values. Wagner accepted the role hoping to build greater sisterhood, support and community within Belizean pageantry. She believes she made meaningful progress, but says events following the recent pageant forced her to reconsider her place in the organization. At the center of Wagner’s concerns is how the organization handled responsibility when problems arose. She argues that strong leaders stand with their teams during difficult moments instead of placing blame on one group while ignoring the wider circumstances that contributed to the outcome. Wagner also defended the Belizean team, saying its members worked tirelessly despite major challenges and an extremely short preparation period. According to Wagner, the team solved problems, met deadlines and remained committed to delivering for Belize and the delegates. But Wagner suggests the public does not yet know the full story. She says several conversations and incidents took place behind the scenes, and she may speak about them when the time is right. Wagner says she leaves with a clear conscience and continued support for the delegates. She is urging Belizeans to rally behind Caleigh-Rose as she heads to Puerto Rico. Her time with Miss Universe Belize is over, but her work in pageantry is not.
