Did Alcohol Play a Role in Fatal Weekend Motorcycle Crashes?
Tragedy struck over the weekend as two lives were lost in separate road accidents. According to police reports, the first incident happened on Saturday when two men, both riding motorcycles along the highway, fell off and sadly died from their injuries. Now, investigators are trying to piece together what led to these fatal crashes. Assistant Commissioner Hilberto Romero says one of the key questions they’re looking into is whether alcohol may have played a role.

“On Saturday, the first day of November, police responded to a road traffic accident at La Loma Luz area in the Cayo district. Upon the arrival, they saw a damaged motorcycle, and a male person was seen unconscious. He was identified as Gerson Fuyub. Information that Fuyub was riding his motorcycle, his lost control, and he hit his cement structure in the area. He was taken for treatment where he succumb to his injuries.”

“Does police know if he was intoxicated?”

“We do not know at this time. After the postmortal, a blood sample of the obtained and test will be done.”

“Was he wearing a helmet?”

“I cannot say if he was wearing a helmet. Then again Saturday, police responded to another accident on the Hummingbird Highway between miles forty-eight and forty-nine. Upon the arrival, the saw, again a motorcycle damages. A male person was seen in the area unconscious. He was identified as Jorge Gonzalez. Gonzalez was taken for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigation revealed that Gonzalez was riding his motorcycle. He lost control. He fell to the street that is what caused his injuries.”

“We received multiple reports of people losing control. How does that happen?”

“Some of it is attributed to speeding. Some to alcohol. So investigation is being carried out to determine what caused these accidents.”
