DJ Kareem Dies After Being Paralysed for 18 Years

Kareem Wright, better known as DJ Kareem, has died. Despite being paralysed from the waist down, he built a career doing what he loved most: music.

Wright became paralysed after a shooting in August 2007. He was shot in the neck while walking home from a nightclub with his girlfriend. Wright said the attack was carried out by his girlfriend’s former partner in a jealous rage, leaving him unable to walk or drive.

Despite the challenges, Wright underwent more than fifteen surgeries and adapted to life with paralysis. He went on to perform as a DJ at public events, inspiring many with his determination and passion for music.

His mother, Edith Wright, served as his primary caregiver, supporting him throughout his career.
