Domestic Dispute Abroad Turns Deadly for Belizean Artist
Tonight, a Belize City family is heartbroken after learning that their loved one, thirty‑one‑year‑old Anfernee “Big Bang” Pollard, has been killed in the United States. Pollard left Belize to chase his dream in music, and he made it, working alongside some of the biggest names in the industry and building an impressive portfolio of work. But earlier this week, that rising career came to a tragic end. U.S. reports say Pollard was inside a home with a woman when her ex-partner stormed in and opened fire, killing them both. The suspect is now on the run, and police in the U.S. have launched a full investigation. Here at home, we spoke with Pollard’s brother, Allan, who shared memories of Anfernee’s passion, his talent, and the legacy he leaves behind.

“The little bit that I gathered, somebody told me it is just a domestic dispute, jealous rage, execute both his ex-girlfriend and Anfreneee. That is all we could have gathered. We don’t have much information. All the details are sketchy. Anybody weh know Bang and knows of him personally knows that Bang is not a trouble man. He is a solid youth, very focused, very ambitious. His property has always been his career. He had that personality from ever since. He come from southside Belize City but was never limited to that. His music was never limited to that. He had an international mindset. So, for him when he made that transition to the U.S. it is like he was there a long time because his persona already matched that international stage. So, that has always been him. Even though he might be around the elements, southside Belize City everybody kind of pre exposed to some level of thing. But never been somebody who caught up with that or involved with that in any kind of way. Just focus on his craft and try make himself better and focus on his family.”
And tonight, his family says they’re holding onto memories of the talented young artist he was, even as they wait for answers and justice from U.S. investigators.
