Dreadlocks Dispute: ComPol Sends Hairstyle Issue to AG
In late January the Commissioner of Police, Doctor Richard Rosado, reportedly refused to swear-in Constable Kenrick Bol as a member of the Police Association over his hairstyle. Bol is the first male police officer allowed to wear dreadlocks while on duty. But, ComPol Rosado has warned him that the hair must go. It’s a controversial issue that has been ventilated before in court in 2019. Today ComPol Rosado told reporters that he has forwarded the issue to the Office of the Attorney General for deliberation.
Dr. Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police
“All I will say is that as a department we take the policy compliance seriously and the policy implementation seriously and in terms of that individual we have forwarded to the AG ministry for his advice and we are awaiting that advice.”
Paul Lopez
“How much do you rely on previous cases?”
Dr. Richard Rosado
“Like I mentioned we are forwarded it to the AG Ministry for his advice and we are awaiting his advice.”
