Driver Trapped After Collision at Beaver Dam Bridge
A frightening crash on the George Price Highway has left a young woman injured and raised serious questions about road safety on one of the country’s busiest corridors. On Friday night, a routine drive turned into a near-fatal encounter when a vehicle collided with an industrial plow attached to a freight truck at the Beaver Dam Bridge. Police say the impact left the driver trapped inside her SUV, prompting an urgent rescue and a criminal investigation. Here’s Staff Officer Stacy Smith with what authorities know so far.

“The respondent officers observed a silver in color four-door Nissan Rogue SUV on the right side of the bridge, which was damaged, and they also observed an industrial size plow disc lodged in the roof of that vehicle. Observed trapped in the vehicle was thirty-four-year-old Monique Williams who showed injury to the head and the body. Williams was extracted from the vehicle and transported for medical attention and is now listed in a stable condition. What we have learned so far in the course of this investigation is that around 8:15 PM Raymond Martinez was driving a Freightliner truck, which had a plow that was extended the entire length of the bridge and Miss Williams was traveling in the opposite direction. Miss Williams became lodged under the plow and the injuries and damage to the vehicle as reported is what occurred. Police have since issued a notice of intended prosecution to Raymond Martinez in connection to this incident.”
