Employees Foil Armed Robbery at Corozal Store

Over the weekend, a bold robbery attempt in Corozal was stopped in its tracks. On Sunday evening, just after seven, twenty-nine-year-old Ryan Delgado walked into Mo’s Supermarket armed with a pistol, ready to pull off an armed heist. But before he could get away with a single dollar, store employees stepped in and foiled his plan. Assistant Superintendent Stacy Smith has the details on this dramatic incident.

“So he tried to do an armed robbery and was foiled? Do we know the circumstance of it? Did he actually tried to use the weapon and tried to hold up the store?”

ASP Stacy Smith

“What the investigation has disclosed is that yes he did in fact made attempts and his attempts were foiled as a consequence of actions taken by other merchants of the store.”

Reporter

“There are reports that he was beaten, which everyone supports but I am saying, when the police took him in he had a number of injuries.”

ASP Stacy Smith

“Yes.”

“And that was presumably by the property owners who were under attack.”

ASP Stacy Smith

“That is for him to disclose and certainly if a statement has been made and the evidence suggests what was done on him is not in line with the law then police will take the necessary course of action.”
