Good evening, Belize. I’m Shane Williams here to bring you another exciting edition of Sports Monday. And yes, Cycling fans we’ve heard you and so we start out on the road!

Here we are in the culture Capital, Dangriga, where scores of riders from as young as eight-years-old are lined up for the 2025 TV Ramos Cycling Classic. This one begins with a prayer and then a ceremonial ride through the streets of beautiful Dangriga! And as the riders hit the George Price Highway from Ecumenical Drive, the race was on! The first attack was launched less than four minutes into this one on this wet morning with five riders upping the pace to risky levels. This lead group includes young stars Kenyon Sandford, Derek Chavariah, Shawn Codd, Goran Gabourel and veteran Byron Pope.  Just under an hour in, Byron Pope and his teammate Fernando Rosado leading a chase group with Dillon Leivy and the Chavariah brothers because Kenyon Sandford has escaped all alone on a killer pace!

Jyvan Gonzalez said enough is enough and took it up to twenty-eight miles per hour! Hear the one and only Andrew Ordonez on this call.  Here as they approach the finish line some two hours and fifty minutes later, Byron Pope has been dropped. Derek Chavariah and Dylan Leivy has caught up to their G-Flow teammate Gonzalez and the three ride in uncontested. Dylan Leivy gets the win in this dominant display by G-Flow. First, second and third! At the Big Bird’s Isle! There was an instant classic in the William Dawson Sprite Basketball Tournament  between Team Nash and God Speed!  So we start late in the fourth quarter here as this costly turnover by Team Nash leads to this wide open two pointer.

Eyan Rene answers when this turnover leads to fastbreak layup through traffic to cut the lead to three with a minute and forty six seconds to go. He then hit this free throw to tie the game and send it into overtime tied at thirty-three a piece. Rene’s Nash pulled away to win forty-five to forty-two. Amrie Forman scored fifteen points for God Speed. In other matches over the weekend, Hard Rock defeated their zone neighbourhood rivals forty-eight to forty-five. Western Paradise defeated Two Point Oh BZ fifty-seven to thirty-three. Class topped Rising Stars seventy to twenty-nine.

Tuff Enuff defeated Tora Bora forty-three to thirty-five. Team Nash defeated Sunset Warriors for their second win of the weekend forty seven to thirty-five. Don One defeated I.G Ballers forty-four to forty-one. Trench Town defeated Lords Bank Warriors thirty-five to twenty-eight. Avengers defeated Reapers forty-six to twenty-nine. And God Speed was victorious over G Assassins forty-six to twenty-nine.

And of course, we are encouraging Belizeans to show up this Saturday at Swift Hall in Belize City as professional boxer Amir Rudon steps into the ring for the biggest fight of his career against Mexican Carlos Elvira for the World Boxing Council’s Central American Boxing Federation Silver Super Lightweight Championship. That’s all we have for you tonight on Sports Monday. Until next time, remember that sports unite and ball is life so, keep balling Belize!
