Fake Cops, Real Guns: Daylight Vape Shop Robbery Ends in Arrest
Two men posing as police pulled off a bold daytime robbery at a vape shop on Daly Street, Belize City, stealing twenty-three thousand dollars in cash, vape products worth nine hundred dollars, and a black fanny pack with personal documents belonging to Dylan Vasquez. Their escape didn’t last long. Police gave chase and, despite coming under fire, captured the suspects shortly after the robbery. Police identified them as twenty-seven-year-old Kenroy Amani Daly, a security guard from Sarstoon Street, and twenty-six-year-old Ahkeem Rashawn Danderson, a laborer from Racoon Street Extension.
Investigators say both men were armed and pretended to be police officers, even though they are not. Unlike real officers facing charges, the accused “fake cops” were detained with regular prisoners and transported in handcuffs and shackles. Both men appeared unrepresented in court today, before newly appointed Magistrate Neeshad Mohammed, who presided over his first arraignments. They were slapped with nine charges combined, including robbery, false pretense of being a police officer, and firearm offences. Daly also faces an aggravated assault charge involving a firearm against a police officer. Prosecutors allege Danderson had a 9mm pistol with nine live rounds, while Daly was found with a Glock 19 and ten rounds of ammunition. Both pleaded not guilty. Due to the seriousness of the charges, bail was denied, and they were remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June thirtieth, 2026. The magistrate noted they may seek bail through the High Court with legal representation.
