Family Mourns TIDE Ranger Killed in Crash

Tonight, there’s heartbreak in Silver Creek Village, where a family is mourning the loss of thirty-eight-year-old Polirencio Ack, a father of three and a dedicated TIDE ranger. Over the weekend, Ack was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident in Big Falls Village. Reports say he was riding with eighteen-year-old Anasario Cal when the teen, who only holds a learner’s permit, lost control of the bike and crashed. Cal was rushed to Punta Gorda Hospital, but sadly, Ack didn’t survive. We spoke with Ack’s brother, Lee, and ACP Hilberto Romero, who shared more on the investigation.

“Were you guys able to go out to the scene. What happened next?”

Lee Ack

“I’m not sure.  Like how I told you I was not at home at the time when it happened. He was a good person. He was a good person. He has three children. He has two daughters and a son.”

Britney Gordon

“What is the best memory you have of your brother?”

Lee Ack

“I have so much memories, man. Not only one. Yeah. I have so much memories of him.”

ACP Hilberto Romero, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“On Friday, police responded to a fatal road traffic accident. In Big Falls in the Toledo District up on the arrival, they saw a motorcycle with damages. They found two persons there, Polirencio Ack and and Anasario Cal. Information is that Cal was driving a motorcycle when he last controlled before he arrived at the bridge, causing injuries to Ack and causing injuries to himself. Ack was taken for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.  Cal is in custody and has been charged with manslaughter by negligence and causing death by careless conduct.”

Britney Gordon

“Can you confirm that Cal didn’t have a license?”

ACP Hilberto Romero

“That is correct.”

Britney Gordon

“Were they wearing helmets?”

ACP Hilberto Romero

“They were not.”
