FAO Donates Computer Equipment to Boost Digital Agriculture
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has donated laptops and accessories to the Department of Cooperatives within the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, strengthening efforts to modernise agricultural services in Belize.
The donation, part of the project Digital Agriculture Services for a Sustainable and Inclusive Agri-Food System and Value Chains , includes five laptops that will be used to expand digital training and information-sharing platforms.
According to the Ministry, the equipment will support the Belize Agriculture Price Information System (BAPIS) and the Belize Agri Academy, enabling the Department to create and upload training content for farmer organisations. This will allow cooperatives across the country to access timely and relevant information.
Officials say the initiative will complement traditional extension services with innovative digital tools, helping farmers strengthen capacity and adapt to a changing agricultural landscape.
