Farmer Charged with Batun’s Murder
Police have arrested and charged a 45-year-old farmer in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Noe Batun in Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk District.
Investigators say Batun was inside a bar in the village when an altercation broke out involving another man. Police report that the suspect was escorted off the property following the dispute. However, he allegedly returned shortly after in the company of another individual and fired a shot into the establishment. Batun was struck multiple times during the shooting.
Batun was initially transported to the Northern Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Rodel Jesus Cruz, a Belizean farmer of Guinea Grass Village, was formally arrested and charged with murder.
